Ducking out for summer: learn about the art of doing nothing at Citygate Outlets

We’ve got the skills down already, what about you?

It seems the collective appetite for relentless productivity has finally snapped. Enter IPX’s latest darling, SSEBONGRAMA, a character universe built entirely around the revolutionary act of doing absolutely nothing.

If your daily routine involves dodging aggressive calendar invites while quietly muttering into your morning espresso, Citygate Outlets in Tung Chung has staged something of a quiet intervention. From now until August 31, 2026, the mall has transformed into SSEBONGRAMA ORI TOWN—a sprawling, pastel-hued sanctuary dedicated to the fine art of slacking off.

The unholy trinity of sloth: who are these characters?

  • BOORI: A slothful duck drifting aimlessly through life, usually found under a duvet with a cucumber mask firmly applied.
  • COCORI: A tiny, free-spirited chick who exists mostly to cheer BOORI on while he actively avoids responsibility.
  • MONDE: The “Monday Ghost.” A hauntingly relatable figure who materialises the second the weekend expires.

Navigating Ori Town: 8 zones to zone out

There are eight themed installations located at the mall’s Atrium (L2) and surrounding floors:

  • MONDE’s Cave (G/F): Hovering near the entrance, this spot issues digital “ORI TOWN Travel Visas” via QR code to unlock interactive sound triggers throughout the venue.
  • ORIZ Home Sweet Home & The Office (L2): A sharp visual satire of the work-from-home era. Expect dozing desk-bound ducks, scattered cold brews, and glowing “5 MORE MINUTES” bedside lightboxes.
  • Ducking Basketball Court & Cliffside Café: Interactive photo spots complete with giant pastry props and digital mini-games.

For those who prefer a side of civic duty with their cynicism, the SSEBONG-11 Studio on The Bridge (L2) hosts a co-creation mural experience in partnership with local non-profit Art Together, letting visitors paint midsummer ice-cream installations.

A collection of cute plush toys designed as cartoonish ice cream cones, featuring fluffy white characters with yellow beaks, each wearing different colorful hats and holding ice cream or ice cream cones.

The merch: pop-up highlights

Located near cdf Beauty on L2, the SSEBONGRAMA Pop-up Store by LINE FRIENDS is releasing a steady stream of debut merchandise. Highlights include:

Fuel for the unmotivated: Cupping Room menu

Because existential fatigue requires caffeine, Cupping Room Coffee Roasters (Shop 263, L2) has launched a limited-time SSEBONGRAMA menu. Highlights include the “Blood Type Drip” Cold Brew, a “Melt into the Sofa” Yuzu Yoghurt Mousse Cake, and chilled kimchi udon.

Ordering from the themed menu earns you a character keycap keychain—because pressing buttons on a tiny mechanical switch is about as much heavy lifting as anyone should be doing this August.
